Hydroxyapatite Coating On 316L Stainless Steel Using Dip Coating Technique

Abstract 316L stainless steel is one of the metal biomaterials used in implant applications because it has excellent mechanical strength. To improve biocompatibility and activity metals, a coating on surfaces required. coated with hydroxyapatite using dip technique. Firstly, suspension was prepared by mixing 10 grams hydroxyapatite, 1 gram sago starch, distilled water certain weight which then stirred at speed 250 rpm for 20 hours. The substrate dipped time dipping seconds. Coating sintered temperatures 600°C, 700°C 800°C hour. results show that thickness layer decreased increasing amount used. However, increases sintering temperature. best value shear strength obtained addition 16 temperature 11.78 MPa. Furthermore, attached to all substrates an average composition 99.37% as evidenced XRD analysis.
